Multilingual marketplace for second-hand goods in Japan — Vue 3 + Firebase engineered to live inside the free tier, with admin operations built in.
Mizumi Store is a buy-and-sell marketplace for second-hand appliances and furniture in Japan, with English, Japanese and Vietnamese interfaces, an admin back office for products, categories and orders, and order tracking by code. The architecture was designed around Firebase free-tier budgets: pagination, cached reads and client-side image compression under 50 KB.
An image-heavy marketplace can burn through Firebase free quotas in days — 50k reads a day, 1 GB storage, 10 GB bandwidth. The product had to stay free to run without feeling cheap to use.
Client-side image compression (max 1000 px, under 50 KB) before upload, paginated and cached Firestore queries, and a Cloud Functions budget reserved for the payment webhook. Admin workflows — CRUD, order status, category management — were treated as first-class features.
