Overview
Smart Virtual Meeting is a full conferencing stack: a NestJS + Prisma + Redis control plane, mediasoup 3.15 for selective forwarding, Socket.IO signaling and a React 19 client. Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform deployment assets cover the operational side, and a detailed scaling plan tackles the hard parts — TURN sizing, worker placement and explicit benchmark caveats.
The challenge
WebRTC conferences look easy until load: SFU workers are CPU-bound, signaling must stay stateless to scale horizontally, and NAT traversal needs TURN infrastructure that most projects forget until users behind corporate firewalls try to join.
Our solution
Separated control, signaling and media planes; kept signaling stateless behind Redis; documented a per-core mediasoup worker model with sticky meeting placement; and specified Coturn plus simulcast as the next layer — published alongside an honest missing-features list.
